DESCRIPTION:Rachel Borntrager Art x The Apollo on Emma\nThe Colors of Sound\n\nOpening Reception\nThursday\, September 10\, 6pm-8pm\nLive Performance: 7:30pm\nSpringdale Artwalk\nThursday\, October 15 \nThe Colors of Sound features original paintings by Northwest Arkansas artist Rachel Borntrager\, highlighting the intersection between color\, sound\, and the human body. Through line and color-driven abstraction\, Rachel tells intimate stories on how our bodies experience noise and sound. Rachel combines her synesthetic experience of sound and color with her signature painting technique she refers to as the Soma-Line Method. For this collection of work\, Rachel uncovers new uses of acrylic paint\, raw canvas\, graphite\, and unconventional use of oil pastels\, all chosen for their attributes to aid in Rachel’s cathartic mark making style. \nAudiences have the opportunity to watch and listen as Rachel Borntrager demonstrates her painting method in response to live music performed by Craig Colorusso on Opening Reception night\, September 10th\, and again\, during the Springdale Artwalk\, October 15. \nRachel’s work will be on display September 2026 through January 2027\, and all pieces are available for purchase via rachelborntragerart.com \n\nArtists bios: \nRachel Grace Borntrager is a visual artist whose work is inspired by the physiological and emotional complexity of human relationships. Rachel has over 6 years of professional studio art experience and holds a BA in studio art. She is the creator of Soma-Line™️\, a painting method that maps the body’s sensations and breath. Rachel is a MAA Artists 360 Practicing Artist Grant recipient\, and was 2025 Artist in Residence at Arkansas Children’s Northwest. She is currently a contracted teaching artist for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
