The Colors of Sound features original paintings by Northwest Arkansas artist Rachel Borntrager, in her latest body of work exploring the relationship between color, sound, and the human body.

Using her distinctive Soma-Line Method, Rachel transforms her synesthetic perception of sound into expressive abstract paintings that use line and color as a visual language for the body. Made over a span of seven months, this collection of 25+ paintings offers an intimate glimpse into the ways everyday sounds are felt as well as heard. Rachel’s work features unconventional uses of graphite, diluted acrylic paint, and oil pastel on handmade paper and hand-stretched raw canvas, with sizes ranging from 9″x12″ to 48″x60″.
